Chapter 37
“Disperse!!” Captain Xing roared.
A mutant soldier pushed away the soldier who controlled the heavy machine gun and picked up the heavy weapon that needed two people to carry. Holding back the excruciating pain due to his body wounds, he raised the gun and shot at the other alien that was flying towards him.
The heavy machine gun made up of three barrels were savagely fired at 6000 rounds per minute, and the ground around his feet was quickly covered with empty yellow cartridges.
No one dared to say that he was wasting bullets, and several other machine guns were also pointing at this alien.
While a fierce shooting spree was going on over here, on the other side, Tang Xuhai faced an alien by himself.
He already had the experience of killing an evolved alien and was well aware of this new type’s speed, strength, propulsion, reaction and IQ.
With 110% focus power, Tang Xuhai was determined to use all his strength to take down this alien.
The rain was getting heavier and heavier, and the pouring rain felt like someone splashing a basin of water directly on his face. Tang Xuhai tried to keep his eyes open wide, but the gurgling rain continued to wash over, adversely affecting his vision.
“It doesn’t matter, the alien is going through the same thing.” Tang Xuhai encouraged himself.
The aliens’ five senses were no different from human beings’. Whatever affected him would also affect the creature.
“Splish splash.” Tang Xuhai’s heart sank the moment he caught the sound of rainwater plopping. He rolled over on the spot, stood up and quickly moved away.
As soon as he dodged the attack, the alien’s tentacles shot out from the exact spot Tang Xuhai was standing just a second ago.
Tang Xuhai didn’t have time to think much. Holding the Duo Dragonbone Swords in front of him, he let out a loud roar and jumped at the alien.
As soon as Tang Xuhai attacked, the alien ducked away and its tube would fly out at random points, forcing Tang Xuhai to dodge to the side. The two sides’ actions were both incredibly fast, sending any raindrops that hit their moves flying in multiple directions.
“Hiss!!!” The alien shrieked angrily. Tang Xuhai’s fighting spirit was rising higher than ever and he screamed unyieldingly at the creature.
The alien raised its arms, but its feet swayed unsteadily because of the rainwater on the ground. Seizing this opportunity, Tang Xuhai kicked the alien to the ground, and the moment it lost its balance, Tang Xuhai slammed down his swords with both hands, quickly and neatly cutting off the alien’s arms.
The alien’s EQ wasn’t high enough to understand endurance and it thus quickly reacted to the wounds, rolling on the ground in extreme pain. Tang Xuhai then leapt over and chopped off its head with a single blow.
By the time the battle was over, Tang Xuhai’s body was drenched in the creature’s blood. He raised his head, gleefully letting the rain wash away everything.
Thereafter, he squatted down and used the light on his watch to examine the alien’s feet.
This alien’s whole body was remarkably smooth, but there were some lines on the soles, which seemed to help generate friction.
Tang Xuhai kicked the alien body away and laughed: “Learn to wear non-slip shoes first before you even think about taking over the Earth.”
Tang Xuhai finished cleaning up the alien and ran towards the central warehouse’s gate. He had left for only ten minutes, but the moment he returned, the fortification was almost completely unrecognisable.
“How are the casualties?” Tang Xuhai asked Captain Xing as he glanced at the tragic state of this side.
“It’s quite bad for the squad of ability users. A few of our soldiers have also died.” Captain Xing replied with a tense expression.
Almost half of the special ability user squad that was just barely formed had died under the alien’s attack. And that was only a single alien!
Through this ordeal, the main issue that could be seen was that these ability users had poor adaptability and a serious lack of cooperation. Among the dead, some of them were even accidentally hurt by their very own teammates.
“The alien was killed by the special operations team.” Captain Xing said.
“Very good!” Tang Xuhai praised.
“It wasn’t!” Captain Xing rolled his eyes and said angrily: “There’s no ammunition left!”
Although there were serious losses this time, they managed to prevent an alien attack. An air of relief came over the central warehouse’s gate after the heavy moments were finally over.
But Tang Xuhai frowned, for he felt that the battle was over too soon. He said to Captain Xing: “There were no other aliens?”
“Not at all.” Captain Xing said with certainty: “Perhaps the attack tonight is over?”
Tang Xuhai pondered for a while. The evolved aliens gathered a group of less-evolved aliens to charge into the fire net, then they themselves appeared suddenly at the last minute. Would it be just that simple?
The eight aliens from earlier even knew how to make a detour, climb onto the buildings and jumped out of the windows to ambush from midair!
Just as he was thinking about this, a loud noise and a harsh scream surged from the warehouse behind him!
Tang Xuhai’s expression changed at once: “Sh*t! It was a diversion!”
He immediately left Captain Xing, who had also reacted to the scream, to run towards the warehouse.
F**k! Fu Shiwu and Wen Zhaoming are still there!!!
Right now, the two teammates he was thinking of were also shocked by the turn of events.
They had been guarding for any aliens that would break through the defence line, but they didn’t expect that aliens would suddenly appear right from within the warehouse!
In one way or another, these aliens had infiltrated the underground sewage, directly bypassing the defence line at the main gate to crawl in here!
This was outrageous! Could the aliens really be this smart?!
Under the heavy rain, the manhole cover was turned over and a group of aliens squeezed themselves out before directly bolting towards the brightly lit warehouses.
Everybody instantly panicked.
People frantically pushed each other and tried to hide themselves, but where could they even hide in this place?
The aliens immediately attacked the escapees who stayed next to the main gate, cruelly biting their heads off and choking their necks with tentacles.
Panic only led to fear and confusion, making people start doing crazy things. Someone even pushed other people into the aliens so that he could live just one more second.
But at the same time, despair also made people angry, arousing their will to fight back.
Right here, quite a number of them had mutated. Roaring loudly, they picked up whatever sharp weapons they could get their hands on and slashed towards the aliens.
They were attacking with no strategy at all, but because of their strength, the aliens soon suffered damage, which immensely moved people’s hearts and heightened their resolution to stand up for themselves.
The aliens were still flowing into the central warehouse in what seemed like an endless stream. Fu Shiwu and Wen Zhaoming of course didn’t dare to act rashly. If only one of these aliens noticed their presence, they would certainly be engulfed by this tide of aliens.
“Boom!!!” “Boom!!!” “Boom!!!”
As the sounds of explosions and guns consecutively rushed in, the aliens that were gushing out of the manhole were blown to pieces. .
Being backed by the army gave people more confidence. The special ability users had all arrived by this point, and within seconds, the central warehouse turned into a giant, chaotic battlefield.
At this moment, Fu Shiwu Wen Zhaoming left their hiding position and started attacking the aliens.
Wen Zhaoming shot out one big fireball to another, each of which landed precisely on the aliens. Although the fireballs were extinguished within a short time under the heavy rain, they could scorch the aliens on the surface.
These aliens seemed to have extreme sensitivity for pain, for they always gave out an ear-splitting shriek with each injury and their movements were markedly affected. This gave the mutants and even normal people the golden chances to strike these aliens with kicks and punches.
Fu Shiwu’s concentration was at its peak, his whole mind fixed on killing these creatures. Holding the gun with one hand, he knocked down these aliens one by one, hitting each of them exactly on the forehead.
Anyone who unintentionally caught sight of these incredibly accurate headshots couldn’t help but be awed.
The special operations team directly entered the battlefield to separate these aliens and began to specially organise the mutants to get into a formation where several people worked together to deal with one alien. Although there remained some casualties, this approach definitely worked.
The soldiers had run out of bullets, so they could only fight with bayonets and guns. Luckily, they were all experts in group fighting and cooperated seamlessly with each other, sweeping fiercely through the battlefield like a storm.
“Fu Shiwu! Where are you?!” Tang Xuhai’s voice came from a distance.
“I’m here!” Fu Shiwu put down his gun, and his eyes lit up as he shouted in response at the direction of the voice.
There was Wen Zhaoming, whose body might give in any time now, beside him. In such a dangerous situation, of course Fu Shiwu wouldn’t leave him alone, so the two stayed close to each other, each facing and attacking the aliens in a different direction.
Hearing the voice, Tang Xuhai came over and joined the two. The three stood back to back, forming a triangle to combat against the aliens that were attacking their way.
Speaking of the number advantage, obviously the human side had it easier, but the aliens were a tad better in terms of fighting spirit.
Facing such fierce aliens, in their mind, humans harboured a sense of inferiority that could potentially cause them to lose, not to mention that right now, the army had no heavy firepower, only grenades and pistol bullets.
But at the very least, they were determined to kill as many as they could.
There were also mutants and ability users on the human side. After a while, normal people who got wound up in the battle either perished or found a chance to flee from the center of the battle and find themselves a spot to hide.
The paths among the different warehouses were full of humans and aliens fighting each other.
If the situation continued on this way, perhaps mankind could successfully end the battle and emerge as the winner. But how could those evolved aliens ever give up the delicious taste of human brains?
The evolved aliens that had been hiding under a heap of alien corpses finally jumped out and rushed towards a target that they had determined to be dangerous!
“Be careful!!!” Fu Shiwu yelled loudly without turning around: “Fall out now!”

A trope that she always thirsts after: “Comrades who go through life and death together”.
Why do they assume they’re stupid, why are they amazed that they can learn?
When I think of aliens I don’t necessarily think of Alan Dean Foster’s alien, but more like star trek aliens.
I would never think aliens are this or that based on so little info.
A very good question indeed. I assume it’s likely because the aliens seem to have a mostly one track mind; find food, attack food, eat food. The unevolved aliens are easily detectable and combatable, plus they seem to have major weakness like their trash sense of smell- otherwise dear Fu Shiwu would have died long ago. The new evolved aliens are pretty strategic though, so it’s safe to assume they have a higher IQ than their predecessors.
I am sad, I finally thought there I’ll get to see more of my baby acting. I’m happy that there was a new chapter released, but I’m still sad for such a wonderful cliffhanger
Hi Natalia, think this is the first time I see your comment? Then hello and thank you so much for reading this novel ^^~
On the cliffhanger, haha yeah, expect more of them in the future xD See you around!
Yessssssss!!! Thank you for the chapter!
