Chapter 69
“Huh?” Fu Shiwu couldn’t help being astounded.
It wasn’t like there were no others in this building, but they had all blatantly avoided Fu Shiwu’s team. This was the first person to seek help from them.
Fu Shiwu followed the voice.
It was a young girl.
Fu Shiwu couldn’t catch a clear sight of her appearance, for her face was smeared, her whole body was dirty and her hair was uneven, as if it had been chewed off by a dog.
“Was it you who shouted for help?” Fu Shiwu stared at the girl whom he had yet to learn the name from.
Fu Shiwu was immensely puzzled, for this young girl somehow seemed different from anyone he had encountered since the start of the apocalypse.
Then he quivered. It was the burning gaze in her eyes. Compared with others who were busy panicking and lamenting over their stark future, this girl’s will to live was appalling!
“It’s me! Please! Let me out!” The girl stretched out her hand that was so thin that the bones below could be seen and yelled at Fu Shiwu.
Shaken by her voice, Fu Shiwu nodded: “Don’t worry, I’ll get you out of here.”
Then he paused for a second. These cell doors had all been strengthened; but Ma Dong wasn’t here, so how could he open it?
At this point, Ma Dong came down.
“Mr. Fu.” Running to his side, Ma Dong cast him an anxious look.
“Why are you here?” Fu Shiwu was surprised.
“Mr. Wen asked me to keep up with you, because now only my sand-type ability can play some role.” Ma Dong explained: “Mr. Wen said that he can’t move, but he has a bomb on him and is still a fire ability user. Even Shi Zheng’s men wouldn’t dare to touch him.”
After thinking for a second, Fu Shiwu concurred that what Wen Zhaoming said was reasonable, so he nodded: “You came just at the right time, let’s take this door down.”
Ma Dong immediately followed the order and pulled down the entrance to the girl’s cell.
“Thank you!” The girl stepped out of the cell and looked at Fu Shiwu with extremely resolute eyes, then she solemnly bowed to him: “Thank you for freeing me. But please allow me to repay your kindness in my next life.”
As Fu Shiwu was mumbling that she didn’t need to thank him, he suddenly felt that these words didn’t sound quite right.
Finishing her sentence, the girl dashed out and everyone was caught off guard.
“What’s the matter with her?” Miao Jia stared at her back in amazement.
“I have no idea either, follow her!” Without wasting another word, Fu Shiwu ran after the young girl.
As soon as they reached the main gate, they saw the girl running frantically and shouting with her exhausted voice: “Shi Zheng, you bastard! Let me fight with you till death!!!”
Hearing the voice that was so loud it could tear the sky, the Wild Wolf Gang members who were all focused on safeguarding the place against the nearby aliens immediately noticed her.
While Fu Shiwu’s team was entirely struck dumb, the men from Wild Wolf Gang were taken aback for only a split second before they fiercely rushed towards her: “You cunt, is our boss someone you can scold?!”
Each man was holding onto either an axe or a machete. Everyone in Fu Shiwu’s team knew that the girl was about to be slashed to death, but they were all too far away to reach out in time.
“Aaaaaahhhhhh!!!”
A screech from the girl’s throat permeated the air, and waves that were visible to the naked eye rippled out: “Ting —” Each of them unanimously rushed towards the Wild Wolf Gang, and as they swept over, the men who were pouncing at her were immediately thrown left and right, their nose and mouth bleeding profusely!
“Holy Hell!!!” Miao Jia’s eyes widened in absolute shock.
“Ultra… sound?” With enormous surprise, Fu Shiwu also looked at the girl standing upright all by herself in the middle of the yard, and opposite her was a bunch of fallen men spread out in a fan shape.
“That’s super powerful!” Wang Dan gaped at the skinny girl, her blinking eyes filled with utter admiration.
No one knew that the girl who was locked up and struggling inside a cell was a sound-type ability user, and they were all rooted to the spot upon seeing the scene.
But the men of the Wild Wolf Gang obviously knew, and after the first group was taken down, the second group ran over as soon as they heard the news, leaving no delay in between. This time, it wasn’t just ordinary men clutching onto machetes; in fact, most of them were mutants.
Although blood was dripping out of these mutants’ mouth and nose, they still bolted towards her, ready to attack again.
The girl panicked and desperation started growing on her face. This is the end, isn’t it?
Fu Shiwu made an extremely quick decision and shouted: “Attack!”
Wang Dan and Hollande flew forward, while Liu Zhao and Wu Shan turned around, picked up the abandoned bricks on the flower bed and ran over.
Fu Shiwu’s heart beat incredibly fast as his eyes subconsciously glanced at the opponent who was coming at him with a machete in his hands.
In the blink of an eye, the man’s figure was stretched out and a long track line was marked out clearly. Fu Shiwu, who had never been great at close combat, heaved a sigh of relief. He swiftly changed his feet’s direction, ran to the man’s left side and passed by him.
Before the man could even show a look of terror on his face, Fu Shiwu reached out one hand to grab his machete.
The opponent didn’t see how Fu Shiwu had come here at all, and the blade had simply escaped his hands.
Seeing them coming to help, the young girl was abundantly empowered and, without a hint of fear, she scratched the mutant’s face with her nails.
Wang Dan was amused: “What’s the damn use of scratching him?! Hit him with your ultrasound!”
The girl blinked a few times: “These mutants have very high resistance. My shock waves can’t take them down.”
Wang Dan quickly said: “You don’t attack them all at once, focus on one at a time!” As her mouth did the talking, her hands never stopped moving. She was originally a kickboxing coach, then the apocalypse took place and her physique was strengthened even more, making her movements multifold stronger and faster.
The Wild Wolf Gang men that she was fighting against were mostly low-life gangsters, whom she neatly took down in no time.
Watching her fly-kicking, elbowing, front-kicking, low blowing1, one move after another, Miao Jia’s eyes were full of pure awe.
He really wanted to shout “Jiejie!” before leaping over and tightly hugging her thigh.
But after he was kicked to the side by Tang Xuhai, a trauma had grown on him and he no longer had the guts to hug anyone’s thigh oh-so-casually.
After Wang Dan gave her a reminder, the struggling young girl felt very distressed. She never really knew how to explain her ability, rather, she simply started using it after the initial discovery of how to manoeuvre these skills. It seemed truly impossible for her to focus on attacking one single target.
The girl stared at the Wild Wolf Gang man who was running towards her from the distance and kept chanting the words: “One at a time… I must do it one at a time. Aaaaahhhhh —”
“Puff!” The unlucky bastard who was facing her spurted out a lump of blood as both his eyeballs burst out of his eye sockets, and he slumped into a horrible mess.
The girl felt slightly sick to her stomach, then she punched into the air in excitement: “I got it!” She raised her head to look at the prison wall and said bitterly: “Shi Zheng, this worse-than-a-dog bastard! I’ll have you dead for sure!”
The next moment, she ran towards the high wall without hesitation.
Just when Fu Shiwu knocked out his opponent with the machete’s handle, he saw the girl scream and run away.
“Wang Dan! Stop her!”
Wang Dan rushed forward and hugged the girl tightly.
“You let me go! Let me go —” The girl’s eyes oozed out hatred as her fingers gripped Wang Dan’s arms hard.
Bloody scratches quickly appeared on Wang Dan’s arms, but she didn’t let out a single word and continued restraining the girl.
Miao Jia ran over, held the girl down and yelled at her: “You can’t fight against him, he has many special ability users with him!”
Fu Shiwu also ran to the girl’s side and said in a deep voice: “If you go up now, the only thing that awaits you is death. Stay with us, at least you may have a better chance of killing Shi Zheng that way.”
The girl struggled for a while, but knowing that she really couldn’t run from them, she finally came back to her senses.
Fu Shiwu watched her calm down and repeated what he said just now. Seeing that she seemed to have gotten his words, he motioned to Wang Dan and Miao Jia to let her go. The young girl no longer tried to run away.
Fu Shiwu didn’t say anything else. Perhaps the girl carried a deep grudge against Shi Zheng, but now wasn’t the time to ask in detail.
Fortunately, the girl and they took down a large number of gang members, and Fu Shiwu managed to get to the building next door unscathed.
Fu Shiwu directly used his perception to scan the place and soon discovered that Wen Zhaoming’s prostheses was tossed in one of the rooms. He was probably led to this room when they put the bomb on him. Apart from the prostheses, Fu Shiwu didn’t spot any other items.
“Miao Jia, you go give the prostheses to Zhaoming.” After thinking for a moment, Fu Shiwu commanded.
“Roger.” Miao Jia nodded.
Still not feeling quite at ease, Fu Shiwu decidedly asked Liu Zhao and Wu Shan to tag along with him to help Wen Zhaoming come here.
Fu Shiwu looked around again and knew for certain that Tang Xuhai wasn’t in this room, then he started looking into other buildings.
In his perception, a small warehouse appeared in front. Fu Shiwu’s gaze went solemn, but a second later, he was overjoyed, for in that place, guns were lying everywhere.
Shi Zheng had swept away the entire Ping Nan town’s resources. Till now, he mostly depended on human bait and on his army of ability users as well as mutants to deal with Earth’s invaders. The guns and ammunitions he had gathered were all kept in this small warehouse.
Fu Shiwu also saw Tang Xuhai in the building next to the warehouse. By this point, Tang Xuhai had broken down the wall with his greatsword and killed the guards outside, and was walking towards the building’s entrace.
Fu Shiwu was over the moon. After hesitating for a moment, he gritted his teeth and said to Liu Peiqi: “You head to the entrance of the building next door and wait for Tang Xuhai. When he comes out, let him know that we’re all gathering here.”
Fu Shiwu kicked open the small warehouse’s door, turned around and said: “Wang Dan, Hollande, take the guns.”
As his words fell, Fu Shiwu also walked into the messy storeroom and rummaged through the mess for a pistol. Grabbing a handful of bullets, he started placing them into the magazine.
At that very moment, Wen Zhaoming gazed out of the window and threw the bomb out with all his strength.
“Boom!!!” With a violent explosion, half of the cell was gone.
Fu Shiwu jumped out of his own skin: “Where did it blow up?!”
Huo Enting looked around in confusion: “It seems to be the building where we came from.”
In a blink, an ominous premonition overwhelmed him, and Fu Shiwu thought of Wen Zhaoming. The way he looked when he asked Fu Shiwu to find his prostheses and the way the young girl thanked him earlier — They both carried that inexplicably similar expression, an extreme sort of calmness.
“No!” Fu Shiwu sprinted towards the building.
Wen Zhaoming is doing something crazy!
