Chapter 68
Fu Shiwu was kept together with Ma Dong in a separate cell.
Looking at the wounded Ma Dong, Fu Shiwu asked: “How’s your injury?”
Ma Dong moved his arm with a grin and said quietly: “I’m okay, it’s just some scratches on the skin. But Tang Xuhai, is he okay?”
Fu Shiwu’s eyes gleamed and he responded very firmly: “He must be fine.”
It was as though he was trying hard to convince the other person in order to convince himself.
Ma Dong couldn’t help asking: “Are we going to die?”
Fu Shiwu heaved a long sigh: “It’s hard to say now. There’s still a certain chance that we can stay alive out of this.”
Neither of them knew how serious Tang Xuhai’s injuries were. Meanwhile, Huo Enting had been forced to release tons of water, and Fu Shiwu’s guns had been snatched away. Their assurance over the situation had plummeted from one-fifth to less than one-tenth.
Right now, Huo Enting was locked up in the same cell as Wen Zhaoming. What Fu Shiwu was concerned the most was the bomb attached to Wen Zhaoming’s body. He hadn’t fully revealed Tang Xuhai’s plan, and looking at it now, it was hard enough to help Wen Zhaoming survive through this ordeal. It wasn’t yet the time to tell Ma Dong.
Taking the information that Jiang Hao obtained from their surveillance cameras, Shi Zheng flicked the paper: “They still haven’t given in yet?”
Jiang Hao said: “Some people just don’t shed tears until they see the coffin1.”
Shi Zheng declined to comment, then he turned to face Jiang Hao: “We shouldn’t be careless just because the sky veil has temporarily disappeared. They’ve been noisy the whole day, it’s about time they shut up. Later at night, each of them has to stand guard at the station, no one is allowed to sleep!”
Obviously, Jiang Hao wouldn’t be kind enough to go easy on those underlings who had been making a commotion from noon till now. They had to learn how powerful the boss was.
Shi Zheng looked at the darkening sky outside the window. Even if he couldn’t obtain the information from the survival base in the military district, he wouldn’t be negligent at all.
“In any case, the meat of that special ability cow tastes extremely good. Let’s have them switch to this method when they go out to look for food later.” Shi Zheng thought to himself: “Even if they couldn’t find a special ability cow, a mutated cow is already better than a normal one.”
That evening, no one dropped their vigilance and every single member of the Wild Wolf Gang remained awake the whole night.
As Fu Shiwu kept looking outside, the drowsy Ma Dong yawned: “What are you waiting for?”
“Aliens.” The two words Fu Shiwu uttered made Ma Dong immediately fully awake.
“Aliens?” Ma Dong stood up beside Fu Shiwu and looked out of the window, but the window was a little up there and he couldn’t entirely see the outside.
“They should appear again tonight. Look, the sky veil is here.” At the end of Fu Shiwu’s vision, a vague shade of crimson was slowly dying the night.
After 24 hours of disappearance, the sky veil once again covered the entire land of Huaxia.
The aliens also arrived as expected, making their way into each and every city.
And Ping Nan town was no exception.
Shi Zheng was really smart. He had smoothly used humans as bait to take down both evolved and ordinary aliens, and Ping Nan town right now was completely shrouded in dead silence. Because of this, the aliens who descended into the town wandered aimlessly for a while.
But among them, those that landed near Ping Nan Prison were immediately attracted by the only source of light.
“Hiss —” A sharp shriek pierced the air, followed by the vague sounds of even more shrieks.
Tang Xuhai got up and stood at the center of the cell with a grim expression, the tip of the greatsword in his hands leaned firmly against the ground.
Fu Shiwu’s gaze moved: “They’re coming!”
Ma Dong nervously looked at his face: “What’s coming, aliens?”
“Ma Dong! Use your ability to turn the concrete floor below the bars into sand, now!” Fu Shiwu said sternly.
Being asked with such immense pressure, Ma Dong’s head went blank and he simply followed the order. By the time he came back to his senses, he was already running with Fu Shiwu in the corridor outside the cell.
“Mr. Fu, where are we going?” Ma Dong shouted in fear.
“Save everyone!”
Locking Ma Dong and Fu Shiwu together was definitely a wrong move on Shi Zheng’s part. If Fu Shiwu was by himself, he seriously wouldn’t know how to break out of the cell.
“Do… do you know where they are?!” Ma Dong shouted after him.
“I know!” Fu Shiwu said resolutely.
His ‘perception’ was able to cover half a small town. No matter how extensive this prison was, it was nowhere as big as half a town.
Fu Shiwu used his ‘perception’ to look down from the air, and as his consciousness expanded, he penetrated the top floor and went down layer by layer.
He could find Tang Xuhai. He definitely could figure out where Tang Xuhai was!
But Tang Xuhai wasn’t confined in the same building as them. Before he managed to locate Tang Xuhai, Fu Shiwu spotted the others.
“Head to the second floor!” Fu Shiwu charged out of the door that had been turned over by Ma Dong and ran down the stairs.
Ma Dong was a tad reluctant, not daring to follow after him. Until now, he still couldn’t figure out what Fu Shiwu was planning. With so many enemies outside, how would they save anyone?
“Ma Dong!” Fu Shiwu’s shot a sharp gaze at the hesitant Ma Dong and said with a serious expression: “Don’t get cold feet now, or you’ll only end up burying yourself.”
Ma Dong gritted his teeth. The only choice he had now was to believe in Fu Shiwu!
“Got it!” Ma Dong ran towards the second floor behind him.
“Don’t worry! There are no enemies on this floor, you only need to take down these cell doors. Don’t bother about anything else!” Fu Shiwu urged him
“Yes!” Ma Dong nodded and breathed a sigh of relief. He wasn’t quite sure what else he could do, but turning the ground into sand was something he was very adept at.
The cell door crashed down.
“Miao Jia! Liu Peiqi!” Fu Shiwu rushed over.
Miao Jia jumped up in surprise: “Fu ge!”
“Go! It’s no time to talk!” Fu Shiwu said hurriedly.
“Okay!” Liu Peiqi followed him without saying a word.
It was as if someone, or some miracle, was showing Fu Shiwu the way. One by one, Wang Dan, Hollande, Liu Zhao and Wu Shan were freed.
“Zhaoming and Huo Enting are at the end of the corridor on the other side of the stairs. Now we’re going to get them out.” Fu Shiwu said calmly.
It was impossible for the outside to not notice their movements, but at this point, the aliens coming from the sky veil were unexpectedly strong, and they were signalling to more and more of the surrounding aliens, gradually forming a giant wave.
The guards on duty inside the prison had been called away, which allowed Fu Shiwu’s rescue plan to not be interrupted at all. The movement of a whole group of people running around made quite some noise. Seeing them passing by, the people inside the cells on the second floor either withdrew into a corner or avoided them entirely.
“Zhaoming!” Unable to wait for the fumbling door to completely collapse after Ma Dong’s strike, Fu Shiwu directly kicked it down.
Wen Zhaoming’s eyes flickered the moment he saw Fu Shiwu, but they immediately lost their light right after: “I’m so glad that you’re out. Huo Enting, run away with them, don’t bother about me.”
“No. I absolutely won’t leave you behind. Come with us.” Fu Shiwu said.
Miao Jia even ran over to grab his arm.
“I can’t leave! I’m a cripple! How will I come with you?!” Wen Zhaoming couldn’t help but scream: “I beg you! Just leave me alone.”
Fu Shiwu was struck dumb. For a second, no one said a word.
“If you can’t walk, we’ll carry you, but you absolutely can’t expect me to leave you behind.” Fu Shiwu said coldly, then he walked up, bent over and started pulling Wen Zhaoming onto his back.
Petrified, Wen Zhaoming hurriedly pushed his shoulders away: “You’ve gone crazy! I have a bomb on me!”
“This bomb isn’t a piece of paper. It’s not like we’ll break it while carrying you.” Fu Shiwu said stubbornly.
Wen Zhaoming was finally defeated and could only respond with a soft tone: “Don’t carry me. Wheelchair or prostheses, as long as I have either of them, I can go with you. I’ll be here waiting for you.”
“I know where Wen ge’s prostheses are!” Miao Jia quickly exclaimed: “It’s in the building next door!”
Fu Shiwu looked at Wen Zhaoming with a weary heart: “Okay, then we’ll go find it. You wait for us here.”
Fu Shiwu turned his head: “Ma Dong, you stay here with him. If someone approaches, just turn the corridor outside into sand and they won’t be able to walk through.”
The words he said left totally no room for doubts, to which Ma Dong could only nod in agreement.
Taking the lead, Fu Shiwu brought the others to leave the cell: “Where’s our modified car?”
“In front of the boss’ room.” Wang Dan replied.
“The boss is a power-type ability user.” Fu Shiwu lamented under his breath, then he looked back at the people behind him.
Liu Peiqi currently carried no seeds with him, Huo Enting had been made to rid of all the water, while the others were only able to fight against mutants. They stood zero chances against special ability users.
If only there was a gun.
A light flashed in Fu Shiwu’s eyes as all his consciousness was focused on the images in his mind.
I need to snatch a gun from someone, Fu Shiwu sighed. He couldn’t find the person who took away his guns earlier.
He was completely aware that he didn’t have the physique of a mutant, nor did he possess special skills like an ability user. Until this point, he still hadn’t discovered if his ‘ability’ carried any attack powers at all.
The only thing he could rely on was guns.
He was really weak.
But no matter how weak he was, and even if he could scratch with his nails and bite with his teeth at the most desperate moment, he still must get a gun!
With such a dejected heart, Fu Shiwu aggressively ran towards the outside of the building.
“Let me out! Please, let me out!!!” Just when he was about to reach the main gate, an ear-splitting female voice suddenly came.

In essence, she lives to indulge in plot-driven stories sprinkled with camaraderie and slow-burn drama-free romance, especially more so if they belong to adventure, mystery or supernatural genre. A trope that she always thirsts after: “Comrades who go through life and death together”.
I’m probably wrong, but why do I feel like they are purposely letting the team “escape” and meet up to give them hope before killing them all / blowing them up?
Hey Michelle, it’s me again!
At the end of the last chapter, it was said, MC was put in a cell with Huo Enting, in this chapter they are in different cells, with MC being with Ma Dong and Huo Enting being with Wen Zhaoming.. So it should be changed in the previous chapter?
Fu Shiwu heaved a long sign <– sign = sigh
They still haven’t given in yet? <– in = up
And Pingnan town was no exception. <– Ping Nan Town (same for Pingnan Prison)
Fu Shiwu Zhuan turned his head – who’s that? Where did that Zhuan come from? O.o
Hallo ParanoidKitten, it’s me again too xD
I went to check again, my bad it’s not that Fu Shiwu and Huo Enting were ‘locked in one cell together’, instead, they were ‘locked in the cell’ (which suggests they might be in different cells). This fact is to emphasise the sentence that followed ‘while Tang Xuhai was locked in a special cell alone’. This is a very good observation on your part, I salute you (☉_☉)
On ‘given in’ vs ‘given up’ – It’s intentional by me since ‘give in’ carries a ‘surrender’ connotation, which I think is fitting for this context?
The rest have been fixed, thank you once again (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ~♥
I’m quite used to proofreading, so obvious errors/typos are easily detected. Normally I just don’t report them while reading, only if the error/typo is making me so uncomfortable that I’m unable to endure it xD
What are you thanking me for? I’m having fun reading and should be the one to permanently spam you with thanks…
Ohh, new character? O:
