Chapter 61

“Screech —” In the silent night, the piercing sound of the brake sent a shocking wave through people’s hearts.

The two cars that followed behind also quickly came to a brake. Because the road conditions had gotten better and they were driving at a fast speed, they almost hit the rear of the modified car.

Before everyone recovered from the panic, dozens of shadows jumped out from both sides of the road. The leading man yelled loudly, dragging each and every word he spoke: “People in the cars, listen! You’re surrounded! We’re just looking for your supplies, we won’t hurt you! If you understand your position, put your hands behind your head, walk out and squat down.” 

Tang Xuhai was utterly stunned while Fu Shiwu’s eyes could only open wide with astonishment. The leader must have said this statement so many times; that was why he could do it so smoothly. At one glance, these men were obviously repeat offenders.

At the back of the car, the dizzy Miao Jia suddenly came back to his senses and felt immensely amused: “Do people actually still block the road to rob off others these days?”

The people in the modified car didn’t move and no sound could be heard. The two cars behind were even more solemn, no one lifting even a foot.

“Are you all deaf?! Can’t you hear my instructions? Do you want us to make it easy or difficult for you?!” The man shouted rudely.

“Da ge, these guys don’t know where they are. Let the brothers go up and teach them a lesson!” From behind, someone who looked like his underling said with his head lowered and his back arched down towards the leader.

“Uhm.” The man snorted and said slowly: “Be careful not to get too gory, like before.”

“Yes, yes.” The underling grinned and waved at the people behind him. A large group of people gathered around with axes and machetes in their hands.

“I advise you to think carefully!” Tang Xuhai sneered coldly from inside the car: “Regardless of when it is, being a robber is definitely not a good career choice.”

“Only those who know their arts have the guts to do this! If one doesn’t have excellent skills, how could he dare to step into Mount Liang?1’沒有三分三，誰敢上梁山’ is a quote from Chinese novel ‘Water Margin’, one of the four great classic novels of China. Mount Liang refers to the stronghold of the 108 rebels featured in the novel.”

The underling pulled the door handle and smiled at Tang Xuhai evilly: “You should think about yourself. Brat, come down here!”

From inside, Tang Xuhai banged the door into the underling’s face without a care.

“Ouch —” With an excruciating scream, the underling had his two front teeth bid him farewell.

Covering his bloody mouth, the underling threw a vengeful glance at Tang Xuhai, then he mumbled with his mouth that now had a gap on the upper jaw: “Brothers! Get on it!” 

Tang Xuhai directly jumped down from the car seat and pulled out his Dragonbone duo swords at the same time. He smirked angrily: “My swords have drunk enough alien blood. Maybe today you can be its first try at human blood.”

“It seems that this group is rather capable.” The man who looked like the leader narrowed his eyes, raised his hand and shouted at the others to stop.

He walked over, and his full appearance was gradually revealed before everyone’s eyes.

This man was tall and sturdy with a cruel-looking face, which was wearing an eerie smile: “Brother, how do I call you?”

“I don’t dare to receive the honour of being called ‘brother’ by people like you.” Tang Xuhai said coldly.

The man wasn’t annoyed at all, rather, he laughed and waved at Tang Xuhai: “Brother, you’re wrong. In a world like this, the more brothers the better, isn’t it? I think you’re also a smart person, how about you join us? Your cars and the supplies you carry can be your ‘entry fees’.” 

Tang Xuhai was so irate he had to laugh back: “Are you asking me to join you to become robbers?”

“Why? Are you looking down on us? You imbecile!” The man who had lost two front teeth looked at them sullenly, as though hoping it could just erupt into a huge fight. He didn’t want this man to really join his group, or else he would soon lose two more teeth! It was an apocalypse now, where could he go to put on false teeth?

“Li Jixian!” The leader coldly called out the underling’s name, then he turned to speak arrogantly to Tang Xuhai: “Don’t think that we’re simply robbers on the highway. Our base is very big with a large number of people, and we’re able to withstand attacks from evolved aliens. I don’t know where you fled from, but to be honest, who doesn’t want to live a peaceful life? As long as you’re willing to join our base, you won’t have to live your life in fear like this in the future.”

“You even have a base?” Now Tang Xuhai was seriously startled.

Li Jixian proudly pointed to the direction behind their back: “Do you know Ping Nan town? The entire town is now ours!”

“Ping Nan town? You mean the whole town is under your control?” Fu Shiwu finally couldn’t help but voice out.

The leader looked at Fu Shiwu. Seeing this man wearing glasses and carrying a timid look, he didn’t take Fu Shiwu seriously at all.

He then glanced briefly at the people in the three cars. Among them, the sturdy young man standing in front was probably the trickiest to deal with.

He smiled confidently and said: “It’s meant to be. Follow our Wild Wolf Gang, we can guarantee supplies and security for the entire town. How about it? Have you given it a good thought?”

“What if I don’t want to?” As though he was thinking of something, Tang Xuhai’s expression became icy cold.

“Then don’t blame us for being ruthless!” Li Jixian smiled callously.

It was just that the gap in his mouth and the profuse bleeding made it seem like his threat carried no weight.

“Didn’t you just say that you only want out things and wouldn’t kill us?” Miao Jia rested his chin on the seat’s backrest, asking them with a seemingly innocent expression.

“Of course it’s just to fool you. No one wants to spill too much blood.” Li Jixian said.

“Li Jixian! Aren’t you talking too much today?” The leader stared at him with dissatisfaction.

Li Jixian had always been scared of him, so he immediately closed his mouth, albeit unwillingly. In his heart, he had been hoping that Tang Xuhai’s group would turn down the offer, so that he could kill this man to avenge his spotless, white front teeth.

“Wild Wolf Gang…” Tang Xuhai gazed deeply at the leader: “Is your boss Wolf Head Shi Zheng?”

The cruel-looking face that had maintained a composed expression till this point suddenly became flustered. He threw a suspicious look at Tang Xuhai: “Why? Do you know our boss?”

“Haha.” Tang Xuhai revealed a wicked smile: “Now that we talk about it, I caught him with my own hands!”

“Are you a cop?!” The man’s face changed suddenly and several fireballs flared up and coiled dangerously around him.

No wonder this man was so confident. It turned out that he was a fire-type ability user.

Fu Shiwu gave Wen Zhaoming a strange look, at which point Wen Zhaoming raised his eyebrows to look back at him.

Wen Zhaoming had quite a thin built, but his spirits were overwhelming. With his slim, strictly-looking face, perfectly straight nose and the aura of a knowledgeable man, he gave that impression of a truly handsome gentleman.    

My buddies definitely beat other men’s buddies in both character and image! Fu Shiwu felt satisfied.

On the other side, Tang Xuhai clenched his duo swords and slashed them towards the fire-type ability user: “I’m Shi Zheng’s mortal enemy!”

The man spewed out a fire pillar, to which Tang Xuhai simply twisted his waist to dodge.

As though fearing that things hadn’t gotten messy enough, next to him, Li Jixian screamed: “Fight! Everyone, fight!”

The men with machetes and axes in their hands rushed over. These people weren’t ordinary people either; they were all mutants carefully selected by the gang.

Of course, Fu Shiwu and the others wouldn’t let these men simply get close to the cars. Huo Enting pushed the door open, Ma Dong calmly walked out and Liu Peiqi was incredibly excited.

Shouldn’t this be the first special ability users vs special ability users battle in history?

Even if I don’t get to fight a special ability user, it’s already good enough to practise on these mutants, Liu Peiqi humbly thought. He held five kernels in his palm, which swiftly burst out. Tossed on the ground, these kernels instantly penetrated the asphalt road and grew up vigorously.

With a stern expression, Huo Enting waved his hands and the water bullets fanned out. Like those from a heavy machine gun, they charged towards the men that were coming Huo Enting’s way and plenty of blood flowers bloomed before his eyes. There were bloody holes all over their bodies.

Now they were least afraid of group battles. After being attacked by the huge alien wave on the top of the mountain, their confidence had been trememounsly reinforced.

Wang Dan, Hollande, Liu Zhao and Wu Shan didn’t even need to get out of the car. They just watched their teammates put on this glamorous show.

Ma Dong raised the sand high in the sky, simply making these men unable to open their eyes. The sand was blowing in one steady direction, but it only swept the enemies and never accidentally hurt his own men.

Those mutants who followed this fire-type ability user had been robbing from the passing survivors often. If they were challenged, they would resort to killing, or else, they would recruit those who understood the situation well enough or brought them back to the base to act as slaves.

So they weren’t taken aback when the battle took place, but it was the first time they had met so many special ability users!

After Tang Xuhai smoothly turned his body and ducked the fire pillar, he swung his sword, aiming directly for the head of the fire-type ability user. The fire-type ability user’s heart beat frantically, and the imminent risk of death made him explode with immense powers.

In a second, he turned into a huge burning man, carrying scorching heat between his hands and feet.

“Huh?” Wen Zhaoming looked at the burning man in awe, for he had never thought that fire-type ability could be used in this way.

The sweeping heat wave had Tang Xuhai almost unable to breathe, all the hair on his body rolling back under the intense heat.

The burning man continued to grow taller, turning into a 3-meter-tall giant, the flames on his body brightly illuminating the area around him.

Those who had sand caught in their eyes struggled to wipe their tears, but before they could open their eyes, the mature corn plants that had fully rooted into the road split open their corn husks. As the ‘bullets’ popped out, these men totally couldn’t lift their heads anymore.

Huo Enting took this opportunity to take them down one by one. He had learnt to send water bullets by phases instead of shooting them out endlessly, which woulp help save a massive amount of his water-type powers.

Facing the burning man that was waving his arms, Tang Xuahi directly stretched out his swords to block the man. For now, he couldn’t tell which part of that giant burning man actually belonged to the real body.

But saying that, the burning man’s arm must still be made of flesh and bone. It couldn’t be that all of it was a ghostly illusion.

The burning man’s hands kept gouging and hitting Tang Xuhai, forcing him to step back again and again.

This had Tang Xuhai truly unhappy. How could he be overpowered in this way? But how could he defeat this burning man?
