Chapter 32

T/N: I’ve retranslated Tang Xuhai’s ‘Duo Keel Swords’ as ‘Duo Dragonbone Swords’. Mentions of this term in previous chapters have also been fixed ^^.

Tang Xuhai let out an angry roar and attacked the alien again, stooping down and sliding towards the alien’s lower body.

The lower body was indeed the alien’s weakness. Tang Xuhai’s move direclty had it fall flat on the ground. Not letting if off so easily, Tang Xuhai leapt up, pointed the tips of his swords at the ground and slammed both his knees on the alien’s chest.

The alien hissed and its tube poked out from the mouthparts, shooting towards Tang Xuhai’s knee.

This tube could easily penetrate a human skull, so if it hit the knee, Tang Xuhai’s leg would certainly become crippled again.

Tang Xuhai’s expression remained unchanged, but he reacted incredibly fast. With a twist of his waist amid the air, this powerful force allowed Tang Xuhai to flip sideways. Tang Xuhai’s legs spun beautifully and landed neatly on the ground.

The alien took this opportunity to get up and stretched out its tentacles to hook the edge of the roof, and it landed smoothly on the roof with just a swish kick against the ground. Apparently, it had experienced the sweet taste of ambushing its prey from high places and wanted to do it again.

How could Tang Xuhai let it do as it wished? He started running towards the base of the wall to gather momentum and tramped heavily on the wall in large strides. With a flick of his wrist, his fingers caught the edge of the roof and his long legs stretched out, then he steadily swung his whole body and turned over on the roof.

Seeing him chasing, the alien shrieked loudly and rushed towards him.

“Good, come here!” Tang Xuhai laughed angrily and raised his duo swords against the alien’s tentacles while dodging from time to time to avoid its tube.

This alien was more sensitive than any alien that Tang Xuhai had encountered so far, but its moves weren’t as good as him, one who had undergone rigorous training in the millitary. Gradually, it suffered more wounds on its tentacles, its hooks almost chopped off clean.

“Hiss!!!” The alien let out an ear-splitting scream and shot its tube even faster.

Tang Xuhai kicked both his legs up, one wrapping around the alien’s neck and the other landing right beside the neck. With a vicious turn of his waist, the alien’s head was cruelly twisted and banged heavily on the roof.

Taking advantage of the moment the alien was still dizzy from the impact, Tang Xuhai raised his weapons and slammed each sword at each of the alien’s tentacle, firmly pinching them down on the roof.

“Let’s see if you can survive this time?” Tang Xuhai smiled menacingly.

In its dying moments, the alien became even more feral. It struggled ferociously, so much so that Tang Xuhai had to press the two swords with both hands to prevent it from breaking free.

Even though its upper limbs were both tied down, the situation remained favourable to the alien, for it also had a third weapon: the tube.

The upper and lower jaws of its mouthparts separated. Staying so close, Tang Xuhai could clearly watch the tube fly out from inside at lightning speed.

“F**k!” Tang Xuhai’s neck dodged to one side, then dodged to the other side!

The frequency of the attack was getting faster, forcing Tang Xuhai move in one direction then another, and soon he found it impossible to avoid the hit.

Summoning all the force in his hands, he decisively pierced the two swords through the tentacles, even cutting through the roof.

“Squeak!!!” The creature cried out in pain.

Tang Xuhai grinned: “Go to hell!!!”

A spike suddenly protruded from the smooth blade, which grew longer and longer, its sharp tip gleaming with a cold light.

“Hissssss!!!” The alien caught the cold light moving nearer and desperately struggled to break away.

At this moment, a sharp spike emerged from the sword on the other side and punctured the alien’s ear in a flash!

The alien shuddered, then its tentacles slumped down and its whole body stopped moving.

Tang Xuhai breathed a sigh of relief, clutched the sword hilts with both hands and forcefully pulled them out from the roof.

He looked at the Duo Dragonbone Swords glowing with a silver light in the sun. The spikes that abruptly appeared just now were slowly retreating into the blades, and the two blades turned back to their original appearance.

This is really a useful ability!

“Tang Xuhai! How is everything?!” Captain Xing shouted loudly from below.

“I’m fine! I’ve killed the alien!” Tang Xuhai replied at top volume.

A moment later, the special operations team sent out several men to guard the place. No longer having the mood to worry about any possible plague that could linger in the factory, all of the soldiers stared at the alien with a solemn expression.

“This alien is very different.” Captain Xing bent over to observe the alien that had been kicked off the roof by Tang Xuhai.

“His muscle strength is much higher than the ordinary aliens we faced before.” Tang Xuhai kicked the alien’s arm and said.

“Uhm. Have you any idea what’s going on?” Captain Xing looked at Tang Xuhai.

“There’s only one explanation.” Tang Xuhai looked at Captain Xing, his eyes gleaming with a sharp, bright light: “The aliens are getting stronger!”

“We humans develop mutations and special abilities because of the heterogeneous molecules. Does it mean that aliens may have evolved because of certain factors on the Earth?” Captain Xing shivered as he said: “If that’s the case, the winning chance that humanity has gained thanks to our special abilities will soon be nothing…”

“Certain factors on the Earth?” Tang Xuhai gave this some serious thoughts.

Humanity had mutations and special abilities via breathing in the heterogeneous molecules and absorbing them through drinking water. If the aliens also evolved because of those molecules, it wouldn’t have started so much later than humans.

So what was the cause?

Tang Xuhai cursed under his breath and punched the wall with his fist, cracking a deep pit into the surface.

“What do you think it is?” Captain Xing asked.

Tang Xuhai took a deep breath, then spit it out: “For so long, they only absorbed one thing: the human brain.”

“What?!” Captain Xing’s face turned pale at once.

Back in the central warehouse.

During the time that Tang Xuhai went out with the special operations team, Fu Shiwu and Wen Zhaoming, who stayed behind, talked in low voices inside their small ‘barricaded room’.

These days, while the three of them were carefully observing the people outside, the people outside were also observing them.

They were a group consisting of a man with lots of muscles who didn’t seem easy to deal with, a man bound to the wheelchair who carried an indifferent expression and a man wearing glasses who looked very gentle.

Except for the muscular man, neither of the other two seemed threatening.

The one bound to the wheelchair and the one wearing glasses never talked to outsiders. They always headed to the army base after the muscular man came back (they actually went to charge Wen Zhaoming’s wheelchair), and no one knew if they had any special relationship with the soldiers over there.

If the case was only like that, these three people wouldn’t attract so much attention. The issue was that these three grown, single men lived more comfortably than everybody else, making them an eyesore to other people.

Their three jugs of water were always full to the brim and used freely. They could not only wash their hair, but also clean themselves up. This made the other escapees really jealous, for they didn’t even have any container to hold water. At most, they had to recycle the mineral water bottle by cutting off its upper half.

However, Fu Shiwu’s group couldn’t just discard these three big jugs just because other people envied them. They could only bear with the others’ admiring gaze and deal with the situation as and when it came.

Before, Tang Xuhai’s physical strength could press down the others’ evil intentions, but after people began to earn their special abilities, their dissatisfied hearts started fluttering.

On a hot day inside the warehouse, three men wearing leather jackets and sunglasses swaggered along the path in the middle of the warehouse.

Not far from Fu Shiwu, a woman lived with her little daughter and a puppy.

The food for this puppy was in fact its owner’s rations. Probably due to hunger, the puppy usually stayed quiet, but today, for some reason, it started barking the moment it saw the three men.

“Woof woof woof!!!” The leading man of the group looked at the barking puppy with disdain, revealing an unkind smile. He took a breath and stared at the puppy with a sinister expression: “Woof woof woof!!!”

This was definitely a psycho’s behaviour that no one could have forseen!

As though feeling something from the man, the puppy immediately shrank its neck and tucked its tail, making a petrified whimper.

“What are you doing?!” The little girl stopped what she was doing and ran over to hug the puppy.

Being able to frighten the puppy, the man felt full of himself and didn’t expect that the little girl wasn’t scared of him at all. Was his intimidation so weak that it couldn’t push away even a little girl?

Disgruntled, the man wanted to come forward and teach the little girl a lesson. The underling standing behind him quickly stepped forward and grabbed his arm: “Ding ge, let’s get back to the main business.”

The second underling also leaned into his ear and said in a low voice: “We have to snatch those things before that guy comes back, Ding ge.”

The man called Ding ge thought for a second, then raised his fist to the little girl and said threateningly: “You’d better be careful around me!”

The mother hurriedly took the little girl away.

The moment Fu Shiwu and Wen Zhaoming heard the movements, they both looked over there to see the three men walking towards them.

“They’re coming for us.” Wen Zhaoming manoeuvred his electric wheelchair, which made a soft buzzing sound as it moved towards the entrance.

Fu Shiwu pushed his glasses and stood behind him with a sullen expression, wondering what those three men were trying to do. And aren’t they feeling hot?

Ding Ge walked to the barricaded room’s entrance, smiled at the two of them and said: “Are my brothers resting well?”

Back in his previous job, Wen Zhaoming used to deal with all sorts of people. At a glance, he knew that these people were not any good men, so he raised his cold eyes, watching the three of them leisurely making their moves.

Having no idea that the man’s greeting was a provoking line, Fu Shiwu replied earnestly: “You three are also taking a very leisurely walk.”

Wen Zhaoming turned around and gave him a look of admiration. He didn’t expect Fu Shiwu to respond so quickly and even sound a little sarcastic.

With the back of his hand facing the front, Fu Shiwu squeezed his fingers together uncomfortably. He actually said the sentence while imitating the tone that the uncles and aunties in the community used when they went for strolls and talked with each other. It should be appropriate for this situation, no?

Poor Ding ge was choked at his throat, feeling as though all the blood had rushed to his face, and he was stunned for full ten seconds before moving on to his main business.

“Stop talking nonsense!” Ding Ge said angrily: “Hand over your jugs of water quickly, don’t let us do it ourselves. Be careful, my fists don’t have eyes!”

“Let me advise that you should be aware of your situation. I don’t think you want to suffer lots of pain.” The first underling grinned and tightened his fists.

The second underling only sneered in cooperation and threw his fists intimidatingly to show off his strong biceps.

Fu Shiwu was slightly startled and looked at the three people in confusion. He was certain he didn’t say anything wrong. Why did they react that way? [T/N: I officially facepalm… Little Fu ah…]

Wen Zhaoming let out a cold laugh: “So you want our three jugs of water?”

“Exactly!” The two underlings said in unison.

“Not only that, but also your rice, noodles and oil, give them all out!” Ding ge said greedily.
