Chapter 74

If the previous aliens just made people feel scared, this new alien was both disgusting and petrifying.

The whole team held their breath, and their eyes widened in sheer horror as they watched the creature flash past.

Fu Shiwu’s expression twitched as he tightly grabbed Tang Xuhai and quietly moved in one direction. At this moment, they were all hidden behind a long stretch of trees, a spot that was rather dim and wouldn’t likely attract attention.

He tiptoed and dodged the branches to get behind a tree trunk. When Fu Shiwu looked back, from not far away, Shi Zheng was playing with the remote control in his hand.

Fu Shiwu’s heart almost jumped out of his throat. Please, let nothing go wrong!

“Boom! Boom! Boom!”

Only after a series of blasting sounds permeated the air that Fu Shiwu and the others were able to heave a sigh of relief. With explosions this earth-shattering, even if those aliens had three heads and six arms, they would die.

“Hiss —”

Sharp, piercing shrieks came from the spots near the explosions. The aliens were utterly taken aback by the explosion. The smarter aliens who summoned them earlier had all perished, and there was no leader to control them anymore.

The evolved aliens turned around and fled at once. The remaining ordinary aliens scrambled to escape, and in panic, some of them rammed into the fence surrounding the civilians’ square, where they were beaten to death by those frightened, angry men and women.

Great, now the next step is to deal with Shi Zheng! There were no shackles binding their hands and feet anymore.

Tang Xuhai viciously stared at Shi Zheng as he waited for Fu Shiwu to give the order to jump out.

“Wait a second!” Fu Shiwu suddenly exclaimed in a low voice.

Tang Xuhai’s body quivered lightly as he tried to hold back the violent emotions that were surging inside. He took a deep breath and turned around: “What’s wrong?”

“The situation doesn’t feel right.” Fu Shiwu adjusted the image in his perception from a bird’s eye view to a peripheral view to obtain a wider image: “We’re surrounded!”

“What?!” Miao Jia was badly shaken: “How?”

“Yes. Shi Zheng’s men are only a few, haven’t they all headed east?” Zhen Zi was confused.

“They were just putting up a pretense! They didn’t walk out of the gate!” Fu Shiwu said with annoyance: “I was only paying attention to Shi Zheng earlier. These men have turned around, then dispersed into a huge encirclement.”

“Does it mean that Shi Zheng expects us to ambush him?” Liu Zhao said incredulously: “How cunning!”

“He probably never believed that we would just leave like this.” Tang Xuhai said with a gloomy expression.

“Anyway, we have to be one step ahead and kill him as soon as possible. He probably doesn’t know that we’re already so close!” Huo Enting voiced out.

“That’s right!” Wang Dan said with conviction: “We have Mr. Fu who can land a strike before everyone else. We don’t need to come too close to determine his position. This is our opportunity to attack first. Let’s act fast, else our advantage will falter!”

As the encirclement shrank, the situation would certainly turn more unfavourable for them.

Fu Shiwu felt his nerves tighten as the other members waited for him to make a decision, and even Tang Xuhai’s eyes were beaming brightly with so much trust in Fu Shiwu. It was only that moment that he deeply felt that he was in control of their fate, and that every move he made would have a grave impact.

What they said made sense, but… Fu Shiwu’s heart still wavered with unease.

Gritting his teeth, Fu Shiwu’s expression eventually firmed up: “Let’s quickly take down Shi Zheng. We’ll rush out now!”

“Okay!” Tang Xuhai let out a low growl, his hand gripping the hilt of the greatsword: “Let’s go!”

Tang Xuhai took the lead and bolted out from behind the stretch of trees.

Clutching his gun tightly, Fu Shiwu followed him closely, while Wang Dan and Hollande were right behind. After that, there were Zhen Zi, Liu Peiqi, Huo Enting, Liu Zhao, Wu Shan and Ma Dong neatly racing out in order.

At the moment of life and death, everyone had to leave behind any distracting thoughts, for their only goal was to kill Shi Zheng!

“Ah —” Zhen Zi screamed intimidatingly as she ran out of the trees, opened her mouth and sent out a burst of sound waves.

Huo Enting’s water-tyle ability had been fully consumed, so at this point, he could only fight with a wooden stick in his hands. Despite that, he boldly rushed forward.

With her impressive attack ability, Wang Dan flashed past Fu Shiwu and started taking dowh Shi Zheng’s men who had detected their presence.

Shi Zheng had turned a tad sluggish under Zhen Zi’s impact, but still firmly squeezed the remote control in his hand.

He smirked coldly: “I knew you would come!”

Although he was taking a few steps back, his arms were swinging hard, then all the men around him started hurtling towards the distance.

What is that for?

Fu Shiwu was puzzled, but still he raised his arm and shot at the men running away.

After a few of them slumped down under Fu Shiwu’s bullets, most of Shi Zheng’s men had disappeared without a trace, leaving only a few special ability users staying behind.

They consisted of both metal-type, fire-type, electricity-type and wind-type ability users. Luckily, these men had just gone through a frantic brawl against the aliens, thus they were all almost exhausted and could only fight hand-to-hand.

The only active force was Shi Zheng himself, but why hadn’t he made any move by now?

As more and more uncertainty rose, the anxiety in Fu Shiwu’s heart slowly spread out.

Tang Xuhai’s moves were exceptionally ferocious. He wielded his greatsword with both hands and directly cut an ability user who dared to stand in front of him in half.

As though he felt that this was too unsightly, Tang Xuhai parted his hands away, and following this move, the giantsword split into two Tang swords.

Along with Tang Xuhai gradually realising his upper-hand, his use of metal ability was becoming faster, and he was getting better and better at manoeuvring these things.

“Shi Zheng! Let’s wait and see how you’ll die this time!” Tang Xuhai grinned fiercely.

He still clearly remembered that this scum allowed those underlings to make a fool out of him. Tang Xuhai was never such a generous man; he carved all those grudges into his bones!

Shi Zheng’s lips tugged into an eerie smirk as he raised his arms: “Is that so?”

A “buzz” banged loudly in Fu Shiwu’s head, and in his ears, there was a clear, crisp sound of grasses and small tree branches being stepped on when people ran past them.

They were running very, very fast, and as Fu Shiwu’s perception followed them, those figures soon popped up in the monochrome images inside his mind. They not only came by themselves, but also carried something in their hands.

And at that moment, Shi Zheng’s finger pressed down.

As though seeing a bolt from the blue, Fu Shiwu cried out: “There’s a bomb! Lie down!!!”

Wang Dan, who was fighting so enthusiastically, didn’t waste any second and rolled to the ground. The others were taken aback for a second, then dropped their opponents and slumped down at once.

Not far away from them, a thunderous reverberation came from the stretch of trees, and a violent shock wave mixed with smoke and dust surged over, carrying with it scorching heat waves!

Everyone’s ears buzzed with excruciating pain, for the explosion was too close.

Wang Dan lifted her head full of dust and fallen leaves, looked at the flesh and blood that was splashing everywhere with the explosion and muttered: “Human… bomb?”

Shi Zheng had fallen to one side, but still, he was laughing hysterically: “Come! Come!!! I want to see who has the guts to make a move!” He gripped the remote control and said loathfully: “Who dares to step up, I’ll blow him up!”

Tang Xuhai got up with his hair covered in ash and spit out the dust stuck in his mouth: “Shi Zheng! This is atrocious! You even pull this suicide-bombing string?!”

Shi Zheng’s expression changed instantly and he screamed with a grim tone: “Tang Xuhai! I won’t give you another chance. Even if we both die, I’ll drag you all to Hell!” Then he calmed down a little and enunciated each word slowly: “Do you think that when you moved my bombs, I didn’t notice at all? Don’t be so naive, those bombs have positioning devices on them. When you shifted them, I knew at once, but I wanted to lay down a trap for you!”

Miao Jia coughed dryly, crawled to Zhen Zi’s side and shook her body a little. The girl had fainted from the impact of the explosion.

Shi Zheng stood up, patted the dirt on his body and said disdainfully: “But you still had some tricks up your sleeves, daring to come so close. And I also wrongly estimated your position, I let my bombers wander too far.” He started laughing: “How do you feel? This is just the first one.”

Thereafter, he looked down at the remote control’s display: “There are more of them waiting. In any case, you think that I’m evil and could never be redeemed, so it doesn’t matter if I die. Then, let’s bury you here with me.”

Before the others could react, Fu Shiwu’s perception flared up and he nervously shouted: “There’s another one, on the left!”

Tang Xuhai’s eyes turned razor-sharp in a blink. Stamping his feet heavily on the ground, he dashed to the left.

“Oh, self-sacrifice? That’s very noble of you.” Shi Zheng said, exaggerating his regretful tone.

Fu Shiwu’s expression twitched alarmingly. After Wen Zhaoming, will I lose Tang Xuhai too?

He didn’t have any mind to look after other members and simply ran in the direction that Tang Xuhai had left: “Tang Xuhai! Don’t!!!”

As his mouth curled up into a creepy sneer, Shi Zheng pressed the remote control without hesitation.

Tang Xuhai’s feet moved alternatively at lightning speed, stomping on the grass with a loud rustling sound. The Tang sword in his hand morphed into a sharp spike, and with all his might, he threw it at the person who was running, accurately piercing through the neck.

At this juncture, the bomb that the person was holding exploded!

Fu Shiwu was knocked out by the shattering impact. Tang Xuhai stood very close to the bomb, but he reacted incredibly fast. After a few seconds of lying flat on the ground, he got up, ran back to Fu Shiwu’s side and lifted him up.

“Shiwu! Wake up!” Tang Xuhai patted his cheek anxiously. At this crucial moment, nothing would work if they didn’t have Fu Shiwu’s ‘live’ radar.

Fu Shiwu groaned under his breath and slowly opened his eyes: “Xuhai, are you okay?”

“It should be me who asks that, snap out of it, quickly.” Tang Xuhai said angrily: “Don’t run around behind me. You point out the location, then I can rapidly get rid of those human bombs.”

Fu Shiwu shook his head: “This won’t work, we can’t do that. More human bombs are coming, and they scatter in several directions.”

In the linear images inside Fu Shiwu’s mind, many men were clutching bombs and running in all directions, and they were all keeping a distance that was close enough to blow everyone up. Shi Zheng was dead set on dragging them to Hell this time.

A menacing light flashed in Tang Xuhai’s eyes: “Then let Shi Zheng die with us!!”

  • Huo Enting is such an amazing character. I adore how selfless he actually is despite his background. He could've easily ran away but he chose to stay and save some comrades he barely knew. He could stay back and play defense but he's still trying to help out on the offensive. I honestly want to salute this guy. Speaking of, I am definitely going to be 100% crushed if I lose this guy like I did with Mr. Wen.

  • Ah... Mr. Wen seems to be 100% dead now, otherwise he would've at least tried to appear and help. Even if he's unconscious, he's likely been eaten by aliens...

  • Wow I really didn't think this Shi Zheng dude could be more vile but he proves with every new chapter.

    Thank you for the chapter!
