Chapter 51

Tang Xuhai raised his arm and fiercely threw a Dragonbone sword at the alien’s belly. Still staring ferally at Fu Shiwu, the alien opened its mouthparts and ejected its tube!

“Whoosh —” With a crisp sound of the air being pierced, a short arrow cut off the alien’s tube.

At the very same time, a spark flickered at Fu Shiwu’s handgun muzzle and the few bullets that followed completely smashed the alien’s mouthparts.

Everything happened in less than a blink. Before the others could even react, the chaos on Fu Shiwu’s side had come to an end.

Hollande was stunned for a moment, but before he could give Fu Shiwu some praises, the man coldly raised his wrists once more and fired at Tang Xuhai’s direction.

Tang Xuhai totally didn’t try to dodge as the bullets precisely hit the head of the alien in front of him.

Tang Xuhai drew his combat knife to make up for his free hand. Fu Shiwu ran to the corpse of the fallen alien, took out the Dragonbone sword and hurried back to hand it to Tang Xuhai.

“Pay attention to the evolved ones!” Tang Xuhai emphasised again.

“Yes!” Fu Shiwu’s attitude became even more serious.

Fu Shiwu decided that he would just stay fixed at one spot from this point on. He directly climbed onto the modified car’s roof, waiting for the evolved aliens that were in hiding. Unlike them, he didn’t like hiding.

Fu Shiwu lowered his eyes and watched the group’s intense battle against the alien wave. Facing Wen Zhaoming’s powerful fire, these aliens remained extremely stubborn and charged forward head-on. It was likely that they were controlled by the evolved aliens.

As long as they got rid of the evolved aliens, the normal aliens were likely to collapse.

Fu Shiwu stared at a large group of aliens below the top of the mountain, looking for any that looked out of the norm.

These aliens had similar appearance and none of them seemed to carry any distinguishing feature. Fu Shiwu couldn’t see the difference when he carefully inspected each of them. Although it seemed that his team was in a place that was easy to defend and difficult to attack, sooner of later, everyone would be exhausted from this incessant wave of aliens.

Fu Shiwu tried his best to press down his nervous state and took a few deep breaths to calm himself.

He wouldn’t be able to enter that strange state without first being clear-headed.

His heart beat vigorously and the blood inside smoothly spread out to his whole body. Fu Shiwu stretched his breathing and looked straight ahead but his eyes weren’t ‘seeing’. Meanwhile, he completely emptied his consciousness.

A short moment later, he entered that strange state.

Different from back then when he was pressured to enter this state or did so without being conscious, this time, he entered it so quickly totally on his own volition.

Everything in front of him seemed to disappear, but at the same time, they seemed to appear in his mind in another form. All the objects, including the mountains, Tang Xuhai, his teammates and the aliens, turned into monochrome images. Only their outline was white, while everything else was pitch-black.

This is odd. Before, they were clearly three-dimensional images.

As soon as this idea came to mind, the monochrome images nearest to him pushed into the distance and suddenly changed from a flat surface to a three-dimensional shape, then his perspective also changed from a front view to an aerial view.

How did it become like this?

Before Fu Shiwu had the time to think carefully about it, he found an abnormality in the alien wave!

All the aliens in his mind were an image with a single-line outline, but two of them had double-line outlines.

Were they evolved aliens? Why did an evolved alien have a double-line outline?

His ‘unique’ ability was getting stranger and stranger. Although both Tang Xuhai and Wen Zhaoming thought this was a type of special ability, Fu Shiwu himself didn’t think so. This ability had such specific powers that it differed too much from other people’s awakened abilities.

Although its powers made Fu Shiwu happy that he wasn’t so useless, they also had him feel uneasy because he couldn’t comprehend why it existed.

After all, he never had a fever, so how did this ability come about?

These digressing thoughts flashed in his mind for a second, then Fu Shiwu decisively left them at the back of his mind to raise his hand and fire at the double-outline alien hidden amid the alien wave.

To know whether it was an evolved alien, he just had to give it a try!

Although Fu Shiwu’s shot was incredibly fast, the evolved alien reacted equally swiftly. It had been paying attention to Fu Shiwu standing at such a high point, thus as soon as Fu Shiwu raised his gun, the alien sprang on its two legs, kicked its own body up and jumped high to dodge the bullet.

“Tang Xuhai! That is an evolved alien!” Fu Shiwu yelled.

Normal aliens didn’t have such an extraordinary jumping ability.

“Got it!” A bright light flashed in Tang Xuhai’s eyes as he gave a command to Hollande: “Shoot it down!”

Hollande quickly responded, held up his crossbow and aimed at the alien in mid-air.

Fu Shiwu’s pupils shrank and he quickly made his judgment. “Bang bang!” Two bullets tore across the air.

Simultaneously, the short arrow in Hollande’s crossbow flew out.

The two bullets flew towards the alien and cornered it into a very narrow angle. The alien in mid-air could only twist its body to duck them, but at this time, Hollande’s short arrow came straight for its head.

A cruel light flickered in the alien’s eyes and it released the tube to slam down the flying arrow!

Right that very moment, Fu Shiwu suddenly fired another shot.

“Wham!” With one neat crunch, the bullet pierced through the evolved alien’s head, completely breaking its skull open.

“There’s one more!” Fu Shiwu breathed a sigh of relief and shouted to the people below: “The last evolved alien!”

Wang Dan raised her head and glanced at him in surprise, wondering how he knew how many evolved aliens were in this alien wave.

“Where is it?” Tang Xuhai growled.

“To the left!” Fu Shiwu yelled in response.

“Lao Wen, make a fire wall to the left!” “

Wen Zhaoming immediately retracted his spewing fire and focused on creating a fire wall on the left side.

“No! We won’t be able to burn it, it’s too far!” Fu Shiwu saw the image of the evolved alien quickly retreating in his mind: “It’s backing away!” “

To escape? Tang Xuhai thought. But no, this alien would never withdraw so easily.

Then… Tang Xuhai’s eyes flashed, it‘s trying to kill us!

Two to three hundred aliens had perished by this point, but there were still six to seven hundreds of them standing. A heap of corpses was blocking the group’s attacking range surrounding the mountain peak, while the aliens constantly climbing onto these corpses made it harder to kill them.

It’s not going to work. Tang Xuhai quickly made a decision and shouted at Wen Zhaoming: “Lao Wen, burn these corpses. Ma Dong, stop turning the ground into sand!”

Startled, Ma Dong stopped at once. Wen Zhaoming wasn’t sure why either, but he didn’t waste any word and started focusing all his power on burning the alien corpses in front.

“Kaboom!!!”

As the fire raged into the sky, the heat wave rushed to everybody’s face, making them unable to breathe for a moment and have to move to the back.

Unable to escape, the aliens that were climbing onto these corpses screamed in agony.

“At least we can clear it up a bit this way.” Tang Xuhai coldly looked at the blazing flames.

Standing on the car roof, Fu Shiwu gazed into the distance: “The aliens are retreating.”

Sweat profusely rolled down Wen Zhaoming’s forehead as he continued using his power at high intensity. He could feel that his stamina was depleting soon.

“It seems that Mr. Wen won’t be able to hold out much longer.” Huo Enting said.

“Can we burn with gasoline?” Wang Dan suddenly voiced out: “We still have some gasoline in our car.”

“We can’t burn the gasoline!” Tang Xuhai said firmly.

Powers of a special ability user could be regenerated, but gasoline that had been burnt couldn’t. Tang Xuhai had no idea where the closest gas station would be, so he couldn’t take this risk.

“It’s okay, I can still hold out!” Wen Zhaoming said with a pale face.

Huo Enting stared intently at Wen Zhaoming’s twisted expression. His lips twitched slightly and he gritted his teeth: “When Mr. Wen finish burning them, let me try a bit.”

“What are you planning to do?” Liu Peiqi asked.

Huo Enting took a deep breath: “I’ll try to see if I can summon high-pressure water arrows!”

“Huh?” Liu Peiqi exclaimed in surprise.

Liu Peiqi and the others stood far away and didn’t manage to catch what Fu Shiwu told Huo Enting.

Only Tang Xuhai was standing nearby at the time, but he only heard bits and pieces.

“Alright, you can try.” Tang Xuhai nodded calmly.

By the time Wen Zhaoming could no longer continue, the stack of alien corpses had been almost completely burnt to ash. Miao Jia stepped forward and pulled Wen Zhaoming back, and at this point, Wen Zhaoming didn’t even have the strength to raise his wrists.

Miao Jia took Wen Zhaoming to the rear of the modified car, where he charged the laptop while monitoring the situation nearby.

Huo Enting stood in Wen Zhaoming’s position. As the flames went out, the aliens started to move forward again.

The burning smell was absolutely unpleasant, but everyone didn’t care and endured the scorching, nauseating hot air, standing firm at their attacking position.

“Ahhhhh!!!” Huo Enting let out a scream that echoed through the mountains.

At first, he only produced one water arrow at a time, then they gradually flew out in a continuous chain. From the gurgling water flow, the water pressure progressively became stronger and slowly turned into a grand-sized water pillar.

Huo Enting tried so hard that the entirety of his neck and his face turned red while the blue veins below his forehead ruptured.

As his body started shaking violently, the others became anxious.

Huo Enting himself felt that he was reaching the limit, for black shadows were beginning to appear before his eyes.

But, the pressure of the water pillar wasn’t enough. It would hurt once hitting the body, but it still couldn’t deal a lethal blow.

With enough pressure, water could even cut through steel.

“Huo Enting?” Liu Zhao looked at Huo Enting’s face that was slowly turning purple and was truly worried that he might drop dead from brain hemorrhage: “Can you do this?”

Huo Enting turned a deaf ear to these words, for Fu Shiwu’s expression of regret was still deeply imprinted on his mind. His pride was hurt.

He actually felt sorry about himself. Why did he awaken such a useless water-type ability? Apart from providing people with water for drinking and washing, what else could he do?

Huo Enting didn’t have a simple background, and he wasn’t willing to just stay put with this useless ability. It wasn’t like he hadn’t thought of Fu Shiwu’s suggestions prior to today, but after trying with the water arrows, he failed to achieve what he wanted, then later, he felt it was too difficult to make any changes, so he gave up.

But at this moment, being stimulated by Fu Shiwu’s words, Huo Enting also broke out.

Huo Enting felt his head buzz, as though it was struck by a hammer. After the severe pain, his eyes regained their vision, and at this point, what appeared in front of him was a silverish-white water rocket!

This water rocket carried extremely strong pressure, jetting straight into the distance while keeping its structure fully in place without faltering.

“Did I… succeed?” Huo Enting’s voice trembled.
