Chapter 38

“It should be ‘Lie down now’, idiot!” Tang Xuhai snarled back, but his body fell to the ground without hesitation!

But Fu Shiwu could no longer hear his complaint, because at this point, he had entered that strange state again.

There was still heavy rain from the sky, but in Fu Shiwu’s eyes, the raindrops were falling extremely sluggishly, as if someone had pressed the ‘Slow’ button.

All of a sudden, his perception expanded to the surroundings. He didn’t need to see with his eyes or listen with his ears, for everything around him had become a familiarity that he could simply hold in his palm.

Three aliens pounced towards the three of them from three different directions. Still standing back to back, they were having a deadly encounter with three evolved aliens.

As Tang Xuhai threw himself to the ground, Fu Shiwu pushed Wen Zhaoming down, while he himself jumped two large strides across both Tang Xuhai and Wen Zhaoming, neatly dodging the alien that was coming his way.

His movement was incredibly fast, sending Wen Zhaoming lying flat on the ground before he could even react. Above Wen Zhaoming, the figure of an alien just flew past.

Although Tang Xuhai was lying on the ground, his duo swords were pointing upright, trying to inflict damage on the alien from below. If this alien was an ordinary one, this might still work, but this evolved alien had markedly faster reaction and swiftly shifted its body to avoid the swords.

With three aliens surrounding them, Fu Shiwu and Wen Zhaoming, two men who had never been through close combat, finally felt anxiety sweeping over them.

Fu Shiwu held the gun grip with both hands and, “Bang bang bang!”, three shots were fired. He knew it wouldn’t be wise to look down on these creatures and had all three bullets precisely aimed at the vitals of the alien that was rushing towards him, but unluckily, the alien simply flashed by and smoothly avoided the three shots.

Fu Shiwu fiercely bit his lip and quickly jumped away from the spot he was standing, barely ducking from a tube that just flew his way.

He gasped hard and the rainwater poured into his windpipe, causing him to cough coarsely. His breathing was getting difficult, but Fu Shiwu didn’t dare to stop for any moment. He could only continue dodging while avoiding the crowds of people in front.

The evolved alien seemed to have spotted him. Completely ignoring other people, it moved forward despite any obstacles, simply bouncing high into the air and stepping on anything below its feet.

Fu Shiwu’s physical strength could be said to be the worst among the three. At least Wen Zhaoming took the initiative to join a kick-boxing class before the accident happened, while Fu Shiwu hadn’t been exposed to any sorts of sports since graduation.

Fu Shiwu stooped down, almost rolling through the battlefield. Turning his head around, he saw the alien slowing down with many obstacles on its track.

Fu Shiwu desperately continued running, but he knew it couldn’t go on like this. Sooner or later the alien would catch up at the warehouse’s edge and he would end up dead!

He looked to the front with his eyes that were now carrying a completely different sensation from his usual vision, where everything was deeply imprinted into his mind. Everyone’s trajectory seemed to be specified just for him. With just one look, he knew how big the person’s movement would be, where it would go and even how the alien would react to it.

In his perception, he could clearly see each ability user flying, jumping and going berserk in midair, either hitting the alien or unluckily hitting people on their own side.

Right!

Fu Shiwu’s eyes lit up as a plan started being formed in his mind. He changed direction and no longer ran towards the outside, instead, he bolted towards the center where a crowd of ability users were flocking and fighting.

Clutching the gun grip in his right hand, he turned and shot behind him. The aim of this shot was very strange, for it was at neither the alien nor any particular target.

The first shot didn’t make it but Fu Shiwu wasn’t discouraged. He fired a second shot. This was finally effective, but was still a little short of the target.

Fu Shiwu dangerously exhausted all the energy left on his two legs, feeling his chest burning badly and his calves as heavy as lead. His own heavy breathing poured into his ears, almost drowning all the noise around him.

Go on! Just a bit more! Fu Shiwu shouted to himself.

With his right hand hiding behind his back, he quietly waited for the opportunity. As the alien came closer and closer, Fu Shiwu felt himself steadily calm down.

In front was a battlefield where a few ability users and aliens were fighting, the air filled with whirling wind blades and lightning strikes.

An electricity-type ability user had his eyes fixed on his target with two lightning balls squirming like snakes in his hands. The alien that was his target was slightly on tiptoe, its body tilting to one side, ready to jump away from the attack range of its opponent’s electric strike.

This is my chance!

Fu Shiwu gritted his teeth, turned around and shot at the alien!

“Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!”

As though doing acrobatics in midair, the alien dodged Fu Shiwu’s bullets with dazzlingly exaggerated movements. It even let out a few hisses as if laughing at Fu Shiwu.

But after dodging all the bullets, there was a split second when the alien’s whole body lay horizontally in the air. Right at that moment, another alien jumped up from another direction. At the highest point, the two aliens smashed into each other.

It is now!

In a state of complete calmness, Fu Shiwu clenched the gun grip in both hands, raised his arms and fired.

“Bang!”

A blood flower bloomed on the head of the alien that had been chasing him, its brilliantly bright shade of crimson soon washed out by the rain.

The dead alien lay straight on top of the other alien. As the other alien strugglingly landed on the ground, the electricity ability user seized the opportunity to deal a lightning ball to it, successfully claiming the creature’s life.

The electricity ability user glanced at him and seemed to think that both of them were benefited from such a lucky coincidence.

He nodded to Fu Shiwu, and before Fu Shiwu could respond, the man ran in the direction where the battle was still going on.

However, Fu Shiwu knew that this wasn’t a lucky coincidence. It was all due to him deliberately luring the alien after calculating the trajectory of the two aliens in his mind.

But now wasn’t the time to stop and chit-chat with others. Fu Shiwu turned around and ran back to where he came from.

Because he had no idea how Tang Xuhai and Wen Zhaoming were doing over there!

Wen Zhaoming must have it worse than him. Although he temporarily avoided a lethal attack when Fu Shiwu pushed him to the ground, after the fall, he might have no way to duck further attacks.

However, even if Wen Zhaoming sat in his wheelchair, he wouldn’t be able to escape from an evolved alien that could give chase at lightning speed.

Over here, Wen Zhaoming didn’t give up fending for himself. He turned over while still lying on the ground, two fire dragons flying out from his hands, blocking the alien from coming closer.

The alien shrieked piercingly and dodged to one side to evade the attack.

Wen Zhaoming’s heart thumped slightly, for he realised that when he lay on the ground like this, he didn’t have to worry about any sneak attack from behind.

Paying no mind to the mud on the ground, Wen Zhaoming directly rolled a few rounds, and while rolling, he summoned a fire wall to prevent the alien from approaching.

Thereafter, he surrounded himself fully with a fire wall, making sure that no aliens could ever get close.

In this way, he was temporarily safe, but as he continued to use his powers, Wen Zhaoming could feel that his stamina would soon be depleted.

Damn, the powers are not coming out! Wen Zhaoming quietly screamed in his heart. Although he previously had fought almost to the point of exhaustion at the fortification on the main road, he didn’t reach the state where he felt as dry as a used-up oil lamp. It was raining heavily today, so in order to keep the fire burning, he had to wield exponentially more energy.

He could definitely hold on for longer if the weather wasn’t so unfavourable.

As if seeing his struggle, Tang Xuhai took a deep breath and shifted his battle nearer to Wen Zhaoming’s fire wall.

The alien obviously had an aversion against fire, but it refused to give up chasing after Tang Xuhai.

Tang Xuhai smiled slightly and stepped on Wen Zhaoming’s flaring fire wall, taking the risk of burning himself and recklessly dancing in the flames. He rapidly alternated his hand movements, a move that could easily put any layman to death, but the alien dexterously dodged them all.

“Tang Xuhai!!!” Fu Shiwu’s voice suddenly came from afar: “Pay attention!!!”

Tang Xuhai quickly turned his mind towards that direction. Before he knew what he needed to pay attention to, Fu Shiwu suddenly fired a shot from behind!

After a split second of shock, Tang Xuhai immediately remembered Fu Shiwu’s sharpshooting ability. No longer bothered by the bullets, he decided to focus even more on the two aliens in front!

As he moved closer to the fire wall, Tang Xuhai came to the decision that he needed to take down also the alien that had been trying to attack Wen Zhaoming.

Fu Shiwu’s bullets almost rubbed against his body as they flew over. The alien had to spare energy to deal with the incoming bullets, at which point it mistakenly created an opening for Tang Xuhai to attack.

Tang Xuhai made a low growl, stomped heavily on the ground, flew up, crossed his swords and fiercely slashed them on the alien’s neck. Feeling a heavy opposing force from the blades, Tang Xuhai exerted his strenght even more vigorously and the pressure against his hands suddenly became lighter.

A cross mark quickly appeared behind the alien’s neck, its blood spurting out due to the high blood pressure, then its head flew along with Tang Xuhai’s soaring body!

Fu Shiwu looked at the scene before him in utter astonishment, for it was as breathtaking as one from an action blockbuster. It was so captivating that he almost forgot about the battle before his eyes.

Then he swiftly came back to his senses, raised his gun and fired at the other alien just beside.

“Hiss hiss hiss!!!” The alien let out an ear-splitting squeak, looking as though it was infuriated by the death of its own kin.

The alien waves tentacles away from the bullets, its eyes gleaming with a ferocious light, but at this moment, the fire wall behind it suddenly changed to a pillar of fire, trying to swallow it in.

The alien fell into panic and, for a second, was at a loss of what to do next. If it wanted to avoid the fire, it would definitely be hit by those ‘tiny flying things’, but if it didn’t dodge now, it would be engulfed by the flames.

Although the alien had evolved, it wasn’t smart enough to tell which damage would still be within its pain threshold. Before it could figure out which path to take, Tang Xuhai rushed back and plunged his swords into its chest.

At this moment, Fu Shiwu’s bullet also hit right between its eyebrow and Wen Zhaoming’s flames scorched its limbs.

Tang Xuhai steadily stood up and stepped back.

Fu Shiwu gasped for a few breaths, then put down his gun and ran over to pull Wen Zhaoming up from the muddy ground.

“How are you? Is everything okay?” Fu Shiwu boldly probed Wen Zhaoming’s body to check on him, his expression nothing but pure, sincere concern.

Wen Zhaoming was still shaking with shock. Calming himself down, he shook his head: “I’m fine.”

After Tang Xuhai brought the wheelchair over, Fu Shiwu directly hugged Wen Zhaoming, bringing him up and into the electric wheelchair.

“Can you handle it here by yourself?” Fu Shiwu lowered his head and asked.

“What are you planning to do?” Tang Xuhai said as he let his duo swords point at the ground, whose blood stains had almost been completely swept away by the rain.

“Kill them all!” Fu Shiwu said with conviction.

Tang Xuhai said with a delighted expression: “Let’s go then. You’re still full of energy, we’ll go together!”

  • It seems the combative IQ of these aliens is similar to an ordinary civilians. Perhaps because the majority of brains they ate came from civilians.

  • At this point i can only infer that aliens are still a baby phase that just hatch and throw into the earth as after aliens put something into earth atmosphere( red sky veil situation) to turn into more suitable place for the newborn. Every planet should have different atmosphere, even humans needs to wear some suit oxygen comjng out of earth atmosphere.
