Michelle’s note: This is the shortest part of the whole Daomu Biji Main Story, lasting only about 20 chapters. Also, this part is exactly where the official English books stop. The upcoming volume 7 will be the start of the untranslated portion of Main Story. Finally!

One of Third Uncle’s underlings discovered a vertical, narrow tunnel leading to further down underground. As Uncle Three had been missing for a while, his old underlings were no longer around except for Pan Zi. This new group of underlings were new people who did not have much respect for Third Uncle – they were here mostly for monetary rewards. Third Uncle and Hei Xiazi went down the tunnel first. There, they once again saw the mysterious English symbols, similar to those that were found in the underwater tomb and the tunnel in Little Saint mountain. At this point, they learnt that these were created by Men You Ping and that he must have been to Ta Mu Tuo some time ago. The group followed the symbols and reached a large pond, where they were attacked by a herd of chicken crest snakes. 

Wu Xie, while hiding from the snakes, lost contact with Third Uncle’s team, but fortunately he met with Chen Wenjin and Men You Ping. It turned out that after Men You Ping saw Chen Wenjin for the first time, he had caught on with her and agreed to hide her presence from everyone else including Third Uncle. This was because Chen Wenjin feared that “it” might be among them and she could not trust anyone. Now that they had finally met in private, Chen Wenjin was willing to answer all of Wu Xie’s burning questions.

According to Chen Wenjin, the current Third Uncle was not Wu San Xing but in fact Xie Lianhuan, who was supposed to be dead. 20 years ago, it was Wu San Xing who asked to join the archaeologist team, while Xie Lianhuan was already an official member. Wu San Xing was also the one that worked for Qiu Dekao. Xie Lianhuan knew of that fact, so he threatened Wu San Xing to lead him into the underwater tomb. The message that Wu Xie saw in the tomb was not “Wu San Xing put Xie Lianhuan in this deadly situation”; it was meant to be read in reverse – that Xie Lianhuan was the one causing harm to Wu San Xing. After leaving Wu San Xing behind, Xie Lianhuan came ashore and assumed Wu San Xing’s identity, while the real Wu San Xing went missing. The corpse that the team found trapped in a coral reef was another man belonging to Qiu Dekao’s team. Xie Lianhuan could go on pretending to be Wu San Xing without anyone suspecting because the two of them, being cousins, looked strikingly similar. Recalling that Men You Ping saw someone approaching him right before he lost consciousness in the underwater tomb, that person was indeed Wu San Xing.

The other members of the archaeologist team woke up to find themselves inside the nursing home at Golmud, closely watched by an unknown group of people. However, Men You Ping was not among them. Chen Wenjin was certain that they were taken here by “it”. These unknown people had conducted some sort of experiment on their bodies while they were unconscious. Everyone now had the ability to not grow old but would, at one point in time, become a Forbidden Lady. After some time, the team successfully broke out of the nursing home and headed to Ta Mu Tuo because their research showed that Ta Mu Tuo held a secret that could help stop them from turning into a Forbidden Lady. Mid-way through the trip, Chen Wenjin had a conflict with Huo Ling, so Huo Ling entered Ta Mu Tuo while Chen Wenjin waited outside. However, the trip did not succeed and Huo Ling’s transformation slowly started. The Forbidden Lady that Wu Xie saw back at Golmud was really Huo Ling – the first person in the team to have completely turned into the creature.

According to Chen Wenjin, “it” was a powerful, mysterious force that manipulated all these unusual things to happen. “It” also collaborated with Qiu Dekao, providing him with valuable information while taking advantage of his immense wealth and resources. No one knew where “it” was hidden. She also mentioned that the experiment done on their bodies likely had something to do with Wang Zang Hai, and she suspected that it was part of an attempt to immortalise humans. But so far, no success had been achieved and those who were experimented on had all turned into Forbidden Ladies.

Afterwards, the three of them met with Third Uncle’s team. Third Uncle was bitten but his life was spared. Chen Wenjin went to have a talk with Third Uncle (who was in fact Xie Lianhuan) and said that she forgave him. While Third Uncle stayed behind to recuperate, Wu Xie, Men You Ping, Pangzi and some of Third Uncle’s underlings followed Chen Wenjin to continue following the symbols left behind by Men You Ping.

Eventually, they reached the end of the tunnel, where they found a chamber with a huge meteorite that was made of the same material as Lu Shang Wang’s jade armour. There was also a throne in the middle of the chamber, on top of which was a female mummy that had turned grayish green. This mummy was believed to be Queen Mother of The West.

Chen Wenjin decided to go inside the meteorite with a rope tied to her back, so in case bad things happened, Wu Xie’s group could pull her out. Everyone else stayed outside to wait for her. After a while, Chen Wenjin removed the rope altogether. Seeing the rope falling out, Men You Ping rushed into the meteorite to follow Chen Wenjin.

5 days passed yet both Chen Wenjin and Men You Ping still had not crawled back out. Everyone had decided to leave save for Wu Xie and Pangzi, who were determined to at least wait for Men You Ping. 3 days later, Men You Ping returned, but he appeared to have lost his memory and was behaving in an absent-minded manner. Looking back at the meteorite, for just a split second, Wu Xie and Pangzi saw a black shadow that looked exactly like the mummy on the throne. Chen Wenjin, however, was never seen again.

On the way out, the three of them encountered a colossal snake which seemed to be the queen snake of all the chicken crest snakes. They fought fervently and managed to get out alive. 

Leaving Ta Mu Tuo, Pangzi headed back to Beijing. Pan Zi was luckily rescued by Ding Zhu Zhuo Ma and her son, while the whereabouts of Third Uncle as well as Hei Xiazi became unknown. Coming back to Hangzhou, Wu Xie took Men You Ping to a hospital for treatment.
